Styling Guide
find the perfect sunnies for you
Let’s find your perfect match!
We all know how hard it is to find a pair of sunglasses that sit right or feel right. Here is a three-step guide to finding frames to compliment your face shape.
Step 1: Know Your Face Shape
Take a guess at how many face shapes there are. There are five types of face shapes. Take a look at this chart here!
Find out what your face shape is by asking a friend or by looking in the mirror.
Obviously, these rules aren’t the end all be all, but they provide a starting point for determining your ideal look.

Step 2: Measure Your Face
Frames are usually measured in three measurements.
– Lens width: The lens width is the measurement between the two widest points of a single lens.
– Bridge width: The bridge width is the distance between each lens.
– Temple length: The temple length is the arm of the frame, from one end to the other.
Measure this!
Measure your eye and face widths. Match the size of your eyes, bridge size, and temple height.
The measurements are usually found on the inside of the temple. Match your measurements to the measurements of the frames to choose the correct frame size for your sunglasses.
Step 3: Consider Other Factors
Consider your hair, eyes, skin colour, and the desired effect when choosing a pair of sunglasses. Choosing a pair of sunglasses are personal preference, just like styling an outfit.
Matching Frame Colour to Eye Colour
Do you want your eye colour bursting with colour? Try choosing coloured frames that contrast and complement your iris.
Matching Frame Colour to Hair Colour
Let’s tone match!
Black hair: Try metallic or dark colours like black, gunmetal, tortoiseshell, blue or dark green to make your hair pop.
Warm blonde hair: Try warm shades like amber, peach, red and even dark greens. Add gold metals to mimic your hair colour too.
Cool blonde hair: Try grey, dark tortoiseshell, as well as dark purples and blues. This will be sure to compliment your hair perfectly.
Dark brown hair: Try earthy tones and light metal frames to give you that extra pizazz.
Light brown hair: Try warm red tones and warm-toned metals to complement your hair.
Red hair: The vibrancy of red hair means you can get away with more adventurous frames.
Once again, this isn’t the end all be all rule. As long as you feel good, you’re on the right track.
Whether you’re after a statement piece or a complimentary frame, make your mark.
Matching Frame Colour to Skin Tone
Picking your frame colour based on your skin tone is about personal taste. You may want to try matching or contrasting – it’s really up to you! At Eye Stylers, we want you to be able to express yourself.
